Around 1´200 concerts are held per year on Vienna´s major stages alone, not including roughly 500 opera performances. Besides haute culture, Vienna is rich of  renowed stages and cabaret. Find here a bone dry listing of the majors.

Classical Music & Jazz


It was relocated to its actual building close to the Karlsplatz in 1912. Each year, Vienna New Year´s Concert is held, broadcasted from its famous Golden Hall. Musikverein is 250 meters away from our Operngasse Premium apartment. The building also houses a conservatory, a collection of instruments and an extensive library and its archives. 5 concert halls impress with rich and imaginative decoration and excellent acustics. The ‘Musikverein’ is also home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.


Together with Musikverein and Vienna State Opera it is considered Austria´s top address regarding music. Bulit in 1913, it is close to Ringstraße and Stadtpark, a very nice local recreation area, and it is no more than 1,100 meters away from our Kumpfgasse Premium apartments. Until the end of World War I it mainly focused on classical music. After that, the program has widened to include other performances, like modern dance.

Vienna State Opera

One hundred meters away from our Operngasse Premium apartment. The Vienna State Opera was one of the first buildings to be built on the famous Ringstraße, between 1861 and 1869 in a neo-romantic style. The State Opera offers room for 2276 spectators and it’s stage is one of the largest in Europe. The Vienna Philharmonic orchestra helps rendering these opera performances cultural highlights day by day.


Even more popular than Vienna State Opera, since it hosts numerous light operas, musicals, dance festivals and other productions apart from classical opera. ‘Die lustige Witwe’ (The Merry Widow), ‘Die Fledermaus’ or ‘Wiener Blut’, Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’, Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (The Magic Flute) or ‘Hänsel und Gretel’ by Humperdinck are examples of Volksoper´s repertoire.

Porgy & Bess

Porgy & Bess was elected one of Europe´s top ten jazz and music clubs in February 2016. The club was initiated by Swiss Mathias Rüegg who, in 1993, started this project in order to invite internationally renowned jazz groups to Vienna. Eventually, Porgy & Bess became a fixture of the native and international jazz scene. The rooms in Riemergasse, only 200 meters away from our Kumpfgasse Premium apartments have been used since the middle of the nineteenth century for professional and amateur theater groups.


Only 200 meters away from our Judengasse Premium apartments. Simply loving it. It is the oldest still existing jazz clubs in town. Almost all Austrian jazz musicians have performed here, in the cellar under St. Ruprecht’s Church, Vienna´s oldest church, founded in 740 (!). In addition, more than 300 stars from the US such as Big Joe Williams, Little Brother Montgomery, Bud Freeman, Max Kaminsky, Teddy Wilson, Clark Terry, Benny Carter, Art Farmer, Ray Brown, Herb Ellis, and Lee Konitz have contributed to Jazzland´s international fame.


Burgtheater and Akademietheater

Along with their associated smaller stages such as Vestibül and Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz they from the leading position in the dramatic arts of the German-speaking countries. The Ensemble has simply been world class, including Klaus Maria Brandauer, Gert Voss (died in 2014), Nicolas Ofczarek, Joachim Meyerhoff, Maria Happel, Michael Maertens, Peter Simonischek, to name only a few.
