The origin of the word “travel” is most likely lost to history. The term “travel” may originate from the Old French word travail.[3] According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the first known use of the word travel was in the 14th century. It also states that the word comes from Middle English travailen, travelen (which means to torment, labor, strive, journey) and earlier from Old French travailler (which means to work strenuously, toil).

In English we still occasionally use the words travail and travails, which mean struggle. According to Simon Winchester in his book The Best Travelers’ Tales (2004), the words travel and travail both share an even more ancient root: a Roman instrument of torture called the tripalium (in Latin it means “three stakes”, as in to impale). This link reflects the extreme difficulty of travel in ancient times.

Wonderful stay! Perfect location. Albi is so nice, he met me when I arrived. The balcony is special. I would stay here again and again.

This is the European flat of my dreams. Exactly as pictured. Sparkling clean. In the absolute best location - walk to many of the best restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. Albi is super responsive and helpful. I’ll stay here every trip to Wien.

The apartment is excellent in a good location near the museum quarter and not far from the city centre. Erlich’s cafe just seconds away is perfect for breakfast and there are several good restaurants nearby too. The apartment is spotlessly clean with 5* quality beds , linen and towels. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed. Albi is the perfect host whose responses are prompt and who is more than happy to provide help and advice if needed. We highly recommend staying in this apartment.

We enjoyed our stay at this stylish and updated flat. The location is excellent for walking and we found so many delicious restaurants on the same street. We felt so comfortable in a spacious living area. Perfect for multiple couples due to the layout. We definitely will return on our next visit. Thanks, Albi for hosting us and we absolutely feel at home.

Great place, really clean and spacious. The location was fantastic – quiet but also just steps away from many hip restaurants and cafes and a short walk away from many of Vienna's beautiful areas.

      We would highly recommend it!

Super Lage, tolle Wohnung. Im Sommer trotzdem kühl, da Wohnung zum Innenhof liegt. Großer Balkon zum Wohlfühlen. Großzügige Bäder/Duschen. Haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Viele Restaurants,Cafés direkt am Haus. Supermarkt direkt um die Ecke.

This was a fabulous place. It’s very centrally located in Vienna. We could easily walk everywhere. There are so many cute restaurants and cafés and museums. It’s a gorgeous area.

Albi is also a wonderful host. We had a problem with the wifi and he sent someone to fix it in 10 MINUTES!! He was so courteous and helpful to us, and it really helped our stay.

This place is so beautiful and convenient. I also want to mention the blackout curtains, since places frequently don’t have them. It helped us get much needed rest.

I loved Vienna, and I loved this spot. It’s perfect for 2 people. Book it, you won’t regret it!!

Everything about this place is perfect. Albi communicates so quickly and was welcoming and responsive. He checked in and offered to do so many things above and beyond. The place is immaculate, just like the pictures and the location is fabulous. It’s a residential area so if you looking to be in the thick of touristy things, not great. But if you want to live like a local, in a fabulous area with tons of restaurants, bars, and easy access to mass transit this is the area for you. Only 5 min walk to the museum quarter, easy to get to center city. It truly was perfect.
